The soloist in the Violin Concerto by Danish Carl Nielsen completed exactly 100 years ago (in 1911) is the LSO's own leader, Jaakko Kuusisto. The LSO's Conductor Laureate Osmo Vänskä is back for the first time since his Chief Conductor days in a performance of the Symphony No. 3 by Serge Rachmaninov, reckoned to be that composer's most Russian.
