Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751) was an Italian Baroque composer, who was born and died in Venice ; known in his time for his operas, when nowadays his popularity comes from instrumental music and, above all, from his famous Adagio , which apparently was not written by him, but composed in 1945 by the Italian musicologist Remo Giazotto based on some fragments of a sonata for strings and organ by Albinoni . In contrast to the composers of his time, he never claimed a position in the Church or at Court , since he defended himself with his own resources and was in love with his own independence. Son of a wealthy family, he studied singing and violin and composed some 50 operas and abundant instrumental music; fundamentally, sonatas for solo and trio, and concertos for oboe and violin.

The Concerto is a musical form written for one or more solo instruments accompanied by an instrumental ensemble. It was Vivaldi who established the fundamental bases of its structure with three movements ( I fast-II slow-III fast ) and presented as a dialogue between the soloists and the instrumental ensemble. Beginning with classicism (1750-1810), especially from the bases created by CPE Bach , the first movement is built following the patterns of the sonata form (exposition, development and re-exposition) , while the second and third movements adopt free and punctual forms. Frequently, at the end of the first and/or third movement, the soloists have a cadence without orchestral accompaniment with which they can show off their virtuosity.

Today we propose the first movement of Albinoni 's Oboe Concerto in D minor in interpretation by oboist Amy Roberts .

He was born into a vocationally musical family; his mother played the piano and his father the violin and flute; His first teacher was a sister of his with whom he liked to play pieces with four hands. At the age of eight he gave his first public concert in the palace of the Radziwill family in Warsaw . Chopin 's work focuses exclusively on the piano, solo or concertante, with which he embarked on a solo career of technical perfection, expressive splendor and deepening in the rubato until he became the musical benchmark for that instrument.

The nocturne is a piece of vocal or instrumental music, with a sweet melody and free structure. The denomination "nocturne" was given, in the first instance in the 18th century , to a piece played at times, generally at night parties and then left aside. In its most common form (that is, as a one-movement piece usually written for piano solo), the genre was cultivated mainly in the 19th century . The first nocturnes written under that name were composed by John Field , seen as the father of the romantic nocturne , which has a characteristic cantabile melody with an arpeggiated accompaniment. However, the most famous exponent of this music was Frédéric Chopin , who wrote 21 works in this genre.

Ernest Chausson (1855-1899) was a French Romantic composer best known for the Poème pour violon et orchester , the Symphony in B, and the opera Le Roi Arthus . His work is usually classified into three periods. The FIRST PERIOD (1878-86) is influenced by Massenet 's teachings and listening to the music of Wagner and César Frank . The SECOND PERIOD, in which a strong dramatic character emerges, coincides with his nomination as secretary of the Société de Musique in 1886 and the frequentation of artistic circles and, above all, of the main composers of the time. The THIRD PERIOD, is influenced by the reading of the Russians Dostoyevsky, Turguenev and Tolstoy . From this period is the Poème opus 25 for violin and orchestra , premiered by Ysaye and highly appreciated by Debussy for its very free form and harmonious proportion.

Poème pour violon et orchestre , opus 25, is an 1896 concerto for violin and orchestra by Chausson . The poem is written in a single movement divided into three linked sections. Chausson was inspired by a short story by Ivan Turgenev , The Song of Triumphant Love , a fantastic story set in Ferrara in the 16th century , in which a melody played on the violin produces a spell.

Today we offer it in the version of the Italian violinist Anna Tifu accompanied by the Orchester philharmonique de Radio France under the direction of maestro Mikko Frank .
