The New Jakarta Ensemble : Tony Prabowo, Musliwardinal, Armen Suwandi, Anusirwan, Desmal Hendri Chaniago, Epi Martison, Nyak Ina Raseuki, Stephanie Griffin The unique feature of The New Jakarta Ensemble which established in July 1996 arises from a blend of Tony's western classical music background and the performer's traditional approach. Instead of writing a score, Tony must communicate his ideas verbally. The musicians are then free to interpret his original concept in their own "traditional" way. As a result of this collaborative method, the music that is created is nether 'western' nor 'traditional', but something "new", hence the name "New Jakarta Ensemble"
