Conducting Fellow Molly Turner leads the ensemble in this stirring performance from our 2023-2024 season of Carlos Chávez's Symphony No. 2, ""Sinfonia india."" In the decades following the Mexican Revolution (1910-20), artists sought to develop new national styles by drawing on Mexico’s pre-Columbian heritage.  No music exemplified this movement more than the nationalistic compositions of Carlos Chávez, then Director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de México and the country’s leading musical exponent abroad.
